A dinner with Edward and Sook Fun

3rd May 2003

When SARS hit Guangzhou, Tau Boon and family took refuge in Malaysia. Edward Tau Boon practised self-quarantined 10 days before departure from Guangzhou, China. He finally called us when he was certain that he would not pass it on to his ex-school mates.

We had one of the best meals in Jalan Ipoh, followed by drinks in Café Best View aka Red House, one of Kam Onn’s usual haunt. Hoon Peck provided the taxi service from Seremban. At half past three in the morning, intoxicated and hungry (after the best meal? - webmaster) we went on the 'must visit' excursion to the famous bakut-teh store. Tau Boon managed to make Kim Fui drunk with the free flowing Chivas.  It was quite a sight with Fui drooling all over and gulping down the nasi minyak at the same time! He awoke from his slumber when his wife sent him an SMS “ET, come home”.

The group to Seremban left with Fui bent on revenge on Tau Boon the next time. We now know that he extracted the sweet revenge at the 2004 reunion.
